BETHANY EVANGELICAL COVENANT CHURCH

OUR MISSION

MENU

The core purpose of our lives is to give glory & praise to God. For that reason, we are committed to the process of making and maturing disciples of Jesus Christ, to ministry to our world, and to the preaching & teaching of the Gospel of salvation through the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

Worship at BECC is a living expression of our love for God. In our worship, we intentionally involve both ministry staff and laity through scripture reading, music, drama, and faith stories to create a worship experience that is applicable and welcoming to multiple generations. Our preaching & teaching ministries are always Bible-centered and designed to help us experience a closer relationship with Christ and his teaching.

What's in a Name?

It may help for us to explain the two terms in the middle of our name. The term evangelical comes from a New Testament term that means “good news.” This term is also often translated as “Gospel.” An evangelical, then, is one who is committed to living and communicating the “Good News” that God has sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to remove our alienation from God as the result of our sin, to reconcile us to God (our heavenly Father), and to restore our relationship with Him. The term covenant is found in both the Old and New Testaments of the Scripture and refers to God’s agreement with His people. We are specifically members of God’s “New Covenant” of grace, which is available to us by faith in Jesus Christ. This covenant of grace motivates and governs our relationships with God and with our neighbors.

Our Commitment to the Scripture

In our ministry as a congregation, we are unapologetically committed to teaching, understanding, and living by the principles taught in the Bible. This is because we believe that the Scriptures are both true, reliable, and authoritative, providing God’s revelation of His nature and His expectations for all humans.
